Motion plastics technology company igus announced the completion of a 110,000-square-foot lead screw manufacturing facility in East Providence, Rhode Island. The German company expects production to begin in 2026.
The plant will serve several markets, including automation, medical equipment, packaging and conveying, additive manufacturing and intralogistics. It also aims to strengthen North American supply chains through shorter lead times, improved responsiveness, localized production and local job creation.
“Moving production beneath our own roof here in East Providence will give us better control over our value stream and allow us to better service North American customers,” igus Production Manager Matt Mowry said.
The site underwent a renovation that began in 2024 and marks the first dryspin lead screw production site outside of Germany. It will also support igus’ 350,000-square-foot Rhode Island campus.
