
Recently, STMicroelectronics announced the L98GD8 driver, designed for 48V automotive power architectures. The device includes eight configurable channels for driving MOSFETs in both high-side and low-side configurations and operates from a 58V supply. The L98GD8 integrates diagnostics and protection features to support safety and reliability in automotive applications.
The L98GD8 supports 48V powernet architectures used by vehicle manufacturers to expand mild-hybrid system capabilities. It enables operation of components such as integrated starter-generators, e-compressors, pumps, fans, and valves, contributing to higher electrical efficiency and reduced vehicle weight.
