Avant Technology will invest some $20 million to expand semiconductor assembly production at its manufacturing facility in Pharr, Texas. Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that Avant will receive a $4.8 million grant from the state's semiconductor innovation fund (TSIF). The facility is expected to create 250 jobs.

Headquartered in Pflugerville, Texas, about 300 miles north of Pharr, Avant designs and manufactures semiconductor assemblies, including solid-state drives (SSDs) and memory modules. The company is expanding its operations in Pharr to produce more complex semiconductor assemblies tailored for enterprise, automotive and industrial markets.

The company is also partnering with South Texas College to provide hands-on access to equipment, enabling students to gain real-world experience in semiconductor electronics assembly, quality control and advanced manufacturing.

Texas Senator Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa said this was the first project in South Texas to receive TSIF grant funding.

Governor Abbott signed the Texas CHIPS Act into law in 2023, establishing the TSIF. The programs, administered by the Texas CHIPS Office, are designed to leverage the state's investments in the semiconductor industry, encourage semiconductor-related companies to expand in the state, further develop the expertise and capacity of Texas institutions of higher education and maintain the state’s position in semiconductor manufacturing.

Avant was founded in 1984 as All Components and changed it's name in October 2003.
