Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro announced that metal forming company Brunk Industries plans to expand operations near Pittsburgh. The firm expects the $31.7 million project to create 64 jobs over the next four years and retain 11 positions.
The Commonwealth will invest over $4.1 million into the development, which aims to build a new 20,000-square-foot production site at the RIDC Armstrong Innovation Park—the first portion of a multiphase construction project. Brunk Industries already leases 6,000 square feet at the park's Tech Center II facility.
Brunk Industries, a contract manufacturer, specializes in micro-precision, light-gauge metal stamping and complex component assembly. The company designs custom tooling and produces parts for highly regulated industries like medical devices, aerospace, automotive and defense. The existing Freeport location, the Brunk Technology Center, focuses on die design, die components and rapid prototyping, while supporting production and engineering at Brunk’s manufacturing facilities.
“Our region has a strong connection to the advanced materials and precision metals industry,” RIDC President Donald Smith, Jr. said. “Armstrong County and this Innovation Park combine pad-ready sites for large companies, ample power and other utilities, ease of transportation and proximity to the city of Pittsburgh.”
Coordinated by the governor’s BusinessPA team, Brunk Industries received a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) for a $4 million Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) loan and a $160,000 WEDnetPA grant to train its workers.
