Webco Industries, Inc., a manufacturer of carbon and stainless-steel tubing products, announced plans to expand its Oklahoma operations at the Port Muskogee Industrial Park. The company expects the project to create up to 10 new jobs within six months, with opportunities for continued growth.
The Port-owned slitter facility is a specialized industrial asset designed to process heavy-gauge steel located along Oklahoma’s inland waterway system.
The expansion will upgrade the existing facility and equipment for Webco’s operations, returning specialized steel processing infrastructure to productive use while providing the company with access to Port Muskogee’s multimodal transportation network and the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System (MKARNS).
“Port Muskogee offers the multimodal infrastructure and strategic location we need to efficiently serve our customers and support future growth,” Webco Vice President of Strategic Sourcing & Global Trade Affairs Donnie Holder said. “This facility allows us to expand our steel processing capabilities while building on our long history of manufacturing in Oklahoma.”
Founded in 1969 and headquartered in Sand Springs, Okla., Webco serves the automotive, oil and gas, refining and processing, power generation, agriculture and construction industries. The company currently employs more than 1,100 people in Oklahoma and approximately 1,500 nationwide.
Steel accounts for approximately 35% to 45% of Port Muskogee’s annual tonnage. Webco’s expansion looks to create opportunities to increase steel-related freight activity along the MKARNS, a 445-mile system that provides year-round barge access to an inland waterway network across 20 states and a global seaport.
