Weichai Power (Rolling Meadows, IL) introduced its independently developed WP15 hydrogen direct-injection engine for heavy-duty vehicles. The WP15 is designed for zero-carbon heavy-duty transportation, delivering up to 600 horsepower and 2,800 Nm of torque with a 14.6-liter displacement and can be used in long-haul trucks, mining dump trucks, port equipment, steel mill vehicles and large hydrogen power generators.

The WP15 engine provides a hydrogen direct-injection, spark-ignited architecture with zero emissions for transportation and heavy equipment sectors using the China VI vehicle emission standard.

Features:

  • Adopts spark-ignited configuration that achieves maximum brake thermal efficiency of 46.8% to combine low consumption with strong power
  • Inherits over 90% component commonality with conventional engine platforms
  • Verified through full operating cycles, including cold start, low-speed idling, high-speed full-load and transient variable load changes
  • Engineered with higher tolerance for fuel purity variations to actively lower end-user fuel costs
