In this video, automotive engineer Matt Brown demonstrates a "moldless" approach to manufacturing custom carbon fiber aerodynamic and body components for a race car project.
Traditionally, creating carbon fiber body panels is expensive and time-consuming because it requires making a perfect positive "plug," using that plug to create a negative fiberglass mold, and then laying up the final carbon fiber part. Matt bypasses this entirely by combining 3D printing with composite lamination.
